Saturday Happenings

Today was a fun creating day at Mystic Paper as Colleen and I took Kim's "Time 2 Cook" class. Kim taught us all kinds of new techniques for collaging our papers onto chipboard. Messy fun!!! I think all of us had a great time getting to know one another, and sharing our master pieces. It was a fun class. I am still washing gesso, gel medium and distress inks off my hands!
We hooked up with Sue M. It was so good to see her again.

Our class. Colleen really got into smashing her spoon. Poor concrete floor poor ghosts bet they wondered just what we were up to. Sorry ghosts!

Busy working

Kim teaching and explaining and Colleen intently listening

Sue working away

Here is some more of the gang

I seemed to have camera problems today and needed to do alot of creative cropping. Apparently I missed the cords hanging down and many of my pics had cords coming out of peoples heads. Oops oh well next time.
Following a shopping expedition extraordinaire which included the newly arrived glass glitter, wall paper and a skeleton for Anthony we headed over to S Bistro for a late lunch. Yummy hamburgers. Chef Brian even allowed us back to see his kitchen.
So another great day, good friends, good food and a great class.

Wild Windy Rainy Week

I am so thankful the long holiday weekend is here. It has been a long, stormy week. Poor me actually had to work a full week and then add nightly storms well I am just tired.

It was a big surprise when I opened my mail this am to see that I had won a blog award. Wow my very first. Thank you KimJ. I love your blog and you keep us hooked with your story telling. Now I need to pass on the love. This is hard as there are so many blogs I read and really enjoy. The rules of this award state: (1) The winner can put the logo on their blog. (2) Link the person you received your award from. (3) Nominate other blogs. (4) Put links of those on yours. (5) Leave a message on the blogs of those you’ve nominated

So here is my list of the blogs I want to send the I love your blog award to and the reasons

Colleen J you don't have your blog yet but if you did I know it would be a hit with all that happens to you daily

Kim H you are a good friend, and your blog is inspiring filled with humor, reality and wonderful photography as well as all your creative projects

Lazy Hot Sunday

This has been a fairly lazy day for me. Just went to get my hair cut (thanks Lori I love my new short lots of highlights look) and then to pick up groceries. Talked to Colleen and she has been "noodling" all day so guess she has a bit of lazy bugitis too.
In my post yesterday I had forgot to post my ATC swap and card class at Jan's pictures
We have been on hiatus with our Stampin Up monthly club so this past Wed was our first class. Made 3 cards with the new stamp sets and the new colors. Beautiful new colors but the kiwi green is probably my favorite right now.

Mystic Paper has a monthly ATC drop off swap and I joined this month. Below are 3 of the ATC plus mine. Mine is the mermaid of course since I love mermaids. Next month theme is "It's Good to Be Queen" that should be fun.

So still working on my canvas swap. Hope to get it completed tonight and then finish up my cigar box this week. That will leave the Bingo card swap plus the ATC swap.
Ok back to creating

What a week!!!

This has been a crazy week. I had Monday off and was supposed to work the rest of the week. Well the best laid plans changed. I worked Tuesday and Wednesday as planned. The boss left for a marathon Wed nite and I went out to go to work on Thursday and the jeep decided it needed a day of rest. Yeap no going to work Thursday. I was able to get the jeep in to be looked at on Friday and it seems my battery was not pulling enough power to maintain the jeep to run. Every time I would start it I had to keep my foot on the accelerator until the car had been running awhile.I now have a super duper new battery and one happy jeep. So anyway I had two more days off. I put them to good uses and cleaned cleaned cleaned. Most of my house looks wonderful

Today I met friends at Mystic Paper and proceeded to buy all the new stuff. Let's see the new 7 Gypsies awesome, new Cosmo awesome, MM Halloween and Cosmo Halloween and Bo Bunny Christmas. Yeap I have them if anyone needs paper. Then we have the new Tim Holtz stamps, new glimmer mist and the new glimmer mist stencils and last but not least is the jewelry. Mystic had a suitcase full of jewelry and yes yes yes I bought quite a few pieces for my upcoming swaps.

After the mega shopping spree we headed to lunch at a new place Kim J recommended. "Inside The Bungalow" It was so good and healthy :) No chips no french fries here.

Colleen and I had an early day as we are both still trying to catch up on our beauty sleep however unsuccessfully that is. Plus I needed to finish up "things" around my house.
Tomorrow I am heading over to Lori's for a haircut and then back home to work on all these swaps I have coming up. Next Saturday is Kim's class at Mystic and can't wait for that

What a Weekend

I was in Temecula Friday thru Monday for a Blog Her Party event held thru La Maison Rustique. Kim was a vendor at the blog party and Colleen and I traveled with her. We missed Maija as she was not able to come. We missed ya Maija!!!

Saturday bright and early we helped Kim set up her tables.Kim shared her tent with Candice. It is not I repeat not cooler in Temecula but it is pretty with lots of vineyards.
Kim and Cheryl were there of course and we had a blast hanging and catching up with them. To say we all roasted was not an exaggeration. There were many pretties to see and drool over. One of the fun things was the pink trailer and "Lucy" car. Loved it

After we all packed Kim up we headed to South Coast Winery to celebrate Joy's birthday. Wow what a fabulous meal. Then back to the hotel to sleep

Sunday brought another special day planned by Kim and Cheryl. They took us to the Flea Market in Orange County. Too fun too hot too expensive ha ha. Colleen took off and found the most wonderful stuff, Cheryl and Kim headed a different direction and found wonderful stuff and Kim and I did not make it out of the original ailes. But we found some fantastic door knobs (supposedly from the Hearst Castle)
Then it was on to Paris in a Cup. This has to be one of the big highlights of the trip. It is more than words can express. Over the top FUN, ELEGANT and Wonderful delicacies all with a French flair. Loved it. Thank you Kim for making the reservations.

We managed to do a bit of shopping in Orange at the famous apron store and some antique shops. It was hard to say goodbye to our buddies but Kim and Cheryl needed to head home.
We headed back to Temecula via Colleen's every trusty GPS. Dinner and back to our room to crash

Monday was spent in the car heading home. It was a wondeerful weekend with great traveling companions, our fun Cali friends, good food and lots and lots of laughter.
"I'm just sayin" it doesn't get any better. Oh ya wait it does we are heading back in Oct for Artisitic Affaire Deux and in Dec for Joyeux Affaire

Getting Ready

I am busy trying to get things organized at work and here at home for my upcoming trip this weekend. To say I am excited is putting it mildly. It will be so good to get away for a few days. And then add the events and shopping and the friends. It has been since Tim Holtz since we have met up with our partners in crime Kim C and Cheryl S. Missed you guys and can't wait to see ya.

I am an avid blog reader and have many many blogs I follow from the famous to the not so famous. It is interesting to see what is going on lately in the blog and scrapbook world. So much copying and so much competition, back biting and back stabbing. It is actually very sad. I see businesses and friendships ending over the petty jealousy and that makes me angry and sad. Today it was interesting to see an online blog that is copying the ideas and dreams of another person. I guess some people consider it fair game. I think Rebecca Tresler put it best on her blog when she wrote about competition among women. Maybe we all need to read it again and take heart. As many people have said "What goes around comes around" and those that steal others ideas or copy others projects and then teach them as their own will probably have the same thing happen to them one of these days.
Ok enough philosophy for the nite off to create.

Fantastic Mail Day

I came home from work to boxes sitting by my door. Love to get boxes. I am in a cigar box swap for Artistic Affaire Deux in Oct so I ordered some from Etsy. They are perfect to be altered.

My sister bid on a box of patterns at an auction and lucked out and won the auction. I am the lucky recipient of old old patterns, button cards, and old needle cases. Thank you Jo I love them. She also included a Flea Market Finds book. It will be going to California with me this weekend,

The patterns. A few of the many she sent

Vintage button cards and needle cases

The Weekend is Gone

What a very short weekend. It seems it was just Friday and here it is Sunday evening already. I had a great weekend spent with friends and family, so it really can't get much better than that. I did manage to complete my houses for a swap in Oct. One of three swaps I am in. One down and two to go.
A little sneak peak of my houses

Today we met up at Firebird for lunch. TJ drove in from Casa Grande to meet us. Absolutely wonderful lunch. The food was super! I managed to find a bench in the shade so I could grab a couple of pictures of my kids. I think they thought it was torture. Oh well at least I got a pic.

Saturday am Colleen and I rode to Payson with Kim. She had a full class to teach at Paper and Metals Scrappers. Colleen and I were able to take the class. It has been a really long time since we had a class so it was fun to get back in the groove. After class we shopped a bit and then packed up to go find lunch. We hit the jackpot and on recommendations from the other class participants we stopped to eat at Mackey's. I think we died and went to heaven. The food was as good as they had all said, service was wonderful and let me tell you the carrot cake is fabulous.
Colleen and Kim before class

Colleen shopping!!

Following lunch we were only able to find one new antique store before they closed. This is the cutest place. 13 rooms of wonderful stuff. Colleen found several things and I stuck to my hankies, and laces. We tried on many hats!!! They were good for a laugh

Sadly we had to head for home. We loved the cool, clear weather. Coming home the clouds were rolling in. Beautiful huge fluffy clouds. It was a great day in cooler than Phoenix, Payson.

Short week for me as Friday I am heading to Temecula for a few days of wine tasting, flea marketing with a great group of friends. Can't wait

Friday, August 08, 2008

Yeah it is Friday and the short weekend looms ahead. Adventures await me I am sure.

Saturday early am I am once again heading to Payson with Kim and Colleen. Kim is teaching an awesome class here. Colleen and I may get to take it if there are any spots left. Otherwise we will be shopping the store while Kim teaches. I am sure we will find something we can not live without. I need some more nail heads and corners for my Purple Monster and of course I need to introduce Colleen to the wonderful Purple Monster. After Kim's class I imagine we will be shopping some of the fun antique stores. Keeping my fingers crossed for some more blueberry coffee cake:)
So Colleen will pick up the new Starbuck's protein drinks for all of us and we will head out to Payson bright and early.
Sunday is family lunch but where we are not sure yet, I bet there will be pics later in the weekend.

Slow motion

Boy am I am slow motion today!!! Guess I was more tired than I thought from our shopping yesterday. (See the previous post). So anyway I thought since I was uploading my photos I would give you a brief glimpse of what I found at the antique stores.
Buttons buttons buttons I love vintage, old buttons. Now I didn't get as many as Kim she hit the jack pot!

Meet Mistress Mary. She is the sweetest little pot from Lamar Pottery. These are hard for me to find at a reasonable price but I scored big time with her

I found 2 of these beautiful blue glass balls. I think they are mercury glass and I love them

Mailbox front. I have big plans for this one

Hankies with crocheted or tatting edgings. Just love them.

Ok that is it my treasures from yesterday. See not too bad. so I guess I need to accomplish something today so off to finish the laundry. Work tomorrow

Recaps of the week

As I wrote on Friday it has been a long hot week. Lots going on at the dialysis center, lots going on at the home front. I was really glad to see Saturday come. I was ready for a break!
Colleen is home after a stressful two weeks in Washington State visiting relatives and spending time with her 98 year old Aunt. Lots of stories for her to tell. She came home Monday night to a trashed house. Hopefully she and Mike P will get her blog up and running soon and the pics and stories will thoroughly entertain you.

Yesterday, Colleen and I did our usual Starbucks but now with a twist. Starbucks now has a protein drink so Colleen insisted I try it. Have to say calorie wise probably less than my venti vanilla latte and taste wise it was good. Health wise better than coffee. I did not have the two shots of espresso that Colleen added to hers or the iced coffee that Colleen had as a chaser. So it was off to Mystic Paper as Collen needed (like me) the new Graphics 45 paper and some embellishments for the house swap we are all in. Met up with Kim, Kelsey and Aliya. Aliya was sporting a band aid on each arm as she had to have her shots for school. Lucky her had 2 firemen give her shots. Well I guess from Aliya's perspective not so lucky but from us adults way cool. Lunch was at trip to Sweetcakes our favorite place to eat and then it was off Antiquing. The Antique Mall in Mesa was EXPENSIVE!!! Kim scored some good things but I barely bought anything. From there it was to Market Square where we ran into Maija. Maija's new tattoo is beautiful so it was fun to catch up with her and all she has been up to. All of us found great treasures and more reasonably priced. We had fun with Kim's girls and Aliya's funny sayings.
Colleen and I stopped at Wildflower for soup and a sandwich and then it was home. I was tired but I hear Kim kept on shopping and going till about 9. Guess they have age on us old people as they still had energy left we didn't.
I am sure Colleen is back to cleaning her trashed house today. Lets see bleach+germicidal cleaner+ammonia= chemical burns on ones fingers!!!!! oh ya and Lysol spray. Her house is squeaky clean. We all had many laughs yesterday as we all kept finding SQUIRRELS for Colleen to buy. She was a good sport about all the teasing.

My tag swap is done, mailed and I think everyone has received their tags. It was a fun swap and all the tags were unique no to themes alike.
