What a Week! What a Day!

I am giving you all a warning this is going to be a long post with lots of pics!! I was a bad blogger this week and didn't blog so here it is all in one post.
Work is busy with new patients starting dialysis and winter visitors trickling in. Add to that the usual paper work and one filled up week.

Yesterday Colleen and I took Sadera with us for the day. We were missing Kim and her girls but Kim was busy consructing a pirate ship. Can't wait to see her pics. Can I just say what a trooper Sadera was and she LOVES shopping as much as we do. She is up for anything and basically that is what she got. A whole day of shopping Colleen and Grandma style.
Of course our first stop was Starbuck's and coffees and pumpkin bread mmmm so good. Then to Mystic Paper. Due to us being a bit early Mystic wasn't open so we wandered the booths lined up along the street. Michelle had her fantastic mosaic creations there and Colleen purchased two really sweet pieces. Check her blog for pics.
After wandering around for a bit we headed to Mystic Paper. They were doing the ghost tours so we got to hear again the tape recordings of the ghosts. Sadera thought that was pretty cool and had tons of questions. We ran into Maija and got all caught up on what we had all been doing since we saw her last week. Maija was taking the chandalier class at Mystic. We were able to help Colleen find paper for her banner for the baby shower she is hosting and a "few" other things. The new Basic Grey lines are beautiful and I caved and bought the Urban Prairie.
From Mystic we went to a new to us thrift store and Sadera helped us find lots of goodies the main one being travel irons for our bees wax. We scored well with an iron for each of us.
So as we were starved we headed to TC Eggington's only Colleen made a wrong turn (ya I know surprise huh) actually we were all talking away. But to her benifit it was a good wrong turn as we pulled into ETC and she was able to find the diecut for her banner. We, with difficulty managed to cut nine 12x12 banner thingys. So all in all a good move. Then we made the right turns and TC's was on the agenda for lunch. Great lunch with a chocolate pie that was so rich, gooey and delicious.
A quick trip to Michael's and Colleen and I were done in. Little Ms Sadera was still going. We still headed home, unloaded, said goodbye to Colleen and started "scrapping". We scrapped till 10:30PM. Yeap old grandma was tired. Jen came at the perfect time to pick up Sadera plus we got to see John and Jen's costumes. Yes I will put up pics to embarrass my daughter, but later.

Thrift store finds

ATC cards from swap. This months theme was flowers. I need to post mine but this is already a bit long:)

Another new favorite paper line "Laundry Line"

And Basic Grey Urban Prairie

Here is my "friend" that stalks my driveway. I have used a whole can of Raid, destroyed her webs and still she comes back daily. I guess she is eating bugs but I don't like spiders. Anyway Sadera and I had fun trying to get this photo and it actually came out pretty darn good. If you click on the pic you can really see the hour glass on her belly

The following pics are of Sadera working on one of the 3 projects we did yesterday evening. Note the Tim Holtz apron. Yeap starting her out young to appreciate the creativity of Tim

My cigar swap partner sent me a wonderful gift certificate and here are my goodies . Loving the keys. Thanks again Carol.

Colleen is destashing, sorting, and getting rid of "THINGS" so she generously brought a huge IKEA bag to my house yesterday. Colleen as she will readily tell you has OCD, but even she is not as bad as the person we saw on our way to Mystic that was cleaning with a rag and Windex their webbed fence. We laughed all the way to Mystic

Here is just a few of the goodies from Colleen's bag. Sadera had the honor of sorting and taking anyting she wanted so a box and a shopping bag later she was one happy camper. Thanks Colleen

Ok this has turned into a book and blogger is giving me fits and won't do a spell check and will no longer upload photos hmmm gee wonder why.
So I will finally end and go clean up the messy house and figure out what to do with the left over goodies from Colleen

Saturday update

All I am saying is what a fun, family friends day. Saturday was just the best. As per usual a quick trip to Starbucks for much needed energy and Colleen and I headed to downtown Mesa for our class with Mike P at Mystic Paper and for all the festivities going on down there. Domestic Bliss was sponsoring a fund raiser for Stephanie and Christian Neilson (see Stephanie's sister's blog for ongoing updates and fundraisers) and downtown Mesa was hosting a Western type day. Tons of vendors lined Main Street. Kim H and Mike P had their tables set up outside of Mystic Paper selling their great stuff. What a fun day to browse and be out in the fresh air

My class with Mike at Mystic Paper was fantastic. Finally a class on bees wax where my end result was not a goopy globby mess. The highlight for me was learning exactly how to use all the Tim Holtz products I have. Love it and thanks to Mike for showing us. I tried to get a good photo of my canvas but alas just not able to So here is the best of the 100 ha ha I took. I really enjoyed this class and now have the bees wax bug or bee:)

Following class I met up with TJ, Jennifer, Sadera and Anthony and we headed out for lunch. Colleen had all of us rounded up and away we went to Sweetcakes for the best chicken salad in the whole world!!!! Unfortunately the chili and salsa cook offs were cancelled bummers. We took Kelsey and Aliya with us and what fun we all had sitting out on the sidewalk area eating our lunch. Aliya and Anthony were so funny as they blew through their cheese crisps so they could eat their pumpkin cookies "Auntie Colleen" got them. Jenn meanwhile played with my camera snapping lost of pics. Here are a few of them
Sadera TJ Anthony posing so happily for mommy

Aliya and Kelsey. Aliya would hide from Jenn every time she tried to catch a pic
Kelsey and Aliya in front of Mystic

Colleen keeping us entertained

Sadera with her prized Pumpkin Cookie

Anthony being a goof posing with the statue

Following lunch we headed out to look around and take Kim back a sandwich. Anthony and Aliya played while Colleen, Jenn, Kelsey, Sadera and I checked out a few of the little store boutiques. We found some cute cute tops
We ran in to lots of friends Sue M, Cindy and Maija and Beth are just a few we got to catch up with. Maija looks fantastic with her new hair color and her wow outfit
Meanwhile Anthony found bats, ghosts, and cats at Kims table and of course the skeleton. He is all set up with glue, paint and glitter to finish them up. It will be his project. Have fun Mommy!!!
Halloween treat jar I made for the kids using Stampin Up vinyl. Love their new vinyl decor items.

Friday

Here it is Friday already. It has been a long but short week. Long in lots of work accomplished and short in that I was only at work for three days. I am telecommuting theses last two days. Love it!!! I am accomplishing so much in clearing up some of this boring must get done paper work.

I am still working on a week in my life. I am finding that I am very routine regimented and my life is pretty boring!! I am anxious to actually get my album put together. Need to get the pictures printed.

Big plans for the weekend. Have a bees wax class with Mike P at Mystic Paper Saturday morning and then plan to shop at the festivities. Mystic Paper will have vendors set up in front of the store. I am so excited as my family TJ, Jenn, John, Sadera and Anthony will be coming down to meet Colleen and I so we can enjoy all the chili, salsa and other events. Kim (originator of designing the wood easel) will be one of the vendors at Mystic and can't wait to pick up some more of her original wood cut outs and some yummy trims. By the way Kim congrats on the easels they are selling well. Carol W used them in her limited addition Christmas kit and I was lucky enough to get one in California and a little birdie told me Kim got another order for them from Texas. Way to go. Her easel cookbook class she taught at Mystic was such a hit too. Easels are so versatile and I am loving them.
So it should be a fun fun day and hopefully photo opportunities as I wind down my week in my life .

So this is what my world looks like this am. Work from home with a cup of coffee and my computer. Loving it!

A Beautiful Cool Sunday

What a beautiful cool day with a gentle breeze blowing. The sun is bright but is is not hot a perfect fall day. This weather puts me in the mood for hot chocolate, soups, casseroles and anything pumpkin.

I made a quick well sort of quick trip to the store and came home with enough food for 2 weeks. I got busy and made up the main course meals so hopefully it will make dinners easier in the evenings when I am tired and don't feel like cooking.

Believe it or not I am almost done putting things away and straightening up my house. I still am working on my three class projects and will post pics when they are done. Despite adding a few more very necessary things yesterday when Colleen and I made a trip to Mystic to get some fun stamps and then to Ikea. Let me tell ya wrong day for IkEA they were having a big sale and it was packed.

I still have a few more photos to share of our swaps at Artistic Affaire. Jessie hosted a house and cigar box swap and Joy and Kelly hosted a canvas swap. All were fun and I have 5 beautiful houses to hang, a Halloween canvas that I love and is hanging and a beautiful box filled with buttons, lace and bling and some beautiful cards.

Here are the house from Group C

Continuing My Artistic Affaire adventure

So I will try and blog a bit more about last weekend. Friday, after a wonderful breakfast at the Embassy Suites, while Kim headed over to Kim C's home to set up for Saturday, Colleen Sue and I hired a driver to take us to the garment district in downtown LA. That was an overwhelming place. Fun but sensory overload
Here we are at breakfast

The trims I purchased

One of the stalls for rent

An overly friendly salesman that insisted his picture be taken with Colleen and Sue

A fun boutique with beautiful capes. I splurged and bought a beautiful skirt and sweater here

Starbuck's. Our outing in the district started and ended with a trip to the Starbuck's!

Friday night was "The French General" class. What a fun evening. I previously posted pics but here are a few more
A beautiful little vignette where we could sign in

I chose neutral for my bracelet. They came packaged in these cute tins

Next blog post I will add pictures of the three swaps hosted by Jessi, Joy and Kelly
