Successful Pasta Making Day

Today was such a fun day. We usually try to get together at least monthly to catch up as a family. It has been quite awhile since we were together for some fun and food. So today TJ, Jenn, John and Sadera and Anthony all showed up for a marathon of pasta making. TJ had purchased a pasta machine and a ravioli maker and was anxious to give it a try. There was lots of laughter and uncertainty when TJ arrived with the lobsters and a ton of other things to make different pastas. Anthony wasn't too sure about touching the lobsters but finally pitched in to help TJ. We had lots of help cranking the pasta machine. At the days end we probably made about 10-12 dozen ravioli and lots of spaghetti. We made 3 different kinds of ravioli, spinach, chicken, and lobster ravioli. All I can say is it was yummy, yummy yummy. Jenn brought a fresh tossed salad and what a meal it was.

It was such a beautiful warm sunny day that everyone ended up being outside for some fresh air. Anthony was on his skateboard and Sadera was happy doing cartwheels. Just the perfect ending to a perfect day

The Stockings Were Hung

I hosted a small group for a Christmas Stocking Swap. I kept the group small due to my time and work constraints and deadlines I was facing. My idea for the swap came from a wonderful online class I took with Nancy Maxwell James of Sugar Lump Studios . I really enjoyed her class and all her helpful tips and so the idea was born. I assigned secret partners, to each of the members as well as a Dec 10th deadline. Christine suggested we all wait and open our boxes on the same day. So today is the reveal. The stocking are gorgeous and it has been fun as the photos came in to see how each of us interpreted the theme. We designed and filled our stockings with goodies and then mailed to our partner. Today: Chaos, Cooking, Cleaning and Creating

What a day. I think I put the "Labor" into Labor Day. After yesterday, where I basically sat all day I needed to get going. And get going I did. From laundry to cleaning to grocery shopping to creating I have had a busy day. I have decided that what I eat sucks. I rarely cook a good meal and then at bedtime I am back to starving. So in my great wisdom I decided I needed to get with it and start fixing better meals for myself. Cooking for 1 is not the most inspiring thing. I am so used to cooking for larger groups and I tend to make too much. any how armed with a list for the grocery store and determination I headed out. I shopped and shopped, loaded all the groceries into the car and unloaded all the groceries from the car when I got home. From there it was a whirlwind of mixing and making my meals for the week.
