Saturday Happenings

Image
Today was a fun creating day at Mystic Paper as Colleen and I took Kim's "Time 2 Cook" class. Kim taught us all kinds of new techniques for collaging our papers onto chipboard. Messy fun!!! I think all of us had a great time getting to know one another, and sharing our master pieces. It was a fun class. I am still washing gesso, gel medium and distress inks off my hands! We hooked up with Sue M. It was so good to see her again. Our class. Colleen really got into smashing her spoon. Poor concrete floor poor ghosts bet they wondered just what we were up to. Sorry ghosts! Busy working Kim teaching and explaining and Colleen intently listening Sue working away Here is some more of the gang I seemed to have camera problems today and needed to do alot of creative cropping. Apparently I missed the cords hanging down and many of my pics had cords coming out of peoples heads. Oops oh well next time. Following a shopping expedition extraordinaire which included the newly arrived gl

Lazy Hot Sunday

Image
This has been a fairly lazy day for me. Just went to get my hair cut (thanks Lori I love my new short lots of highlights look) and then to pick up groceries. Talked to Colleen and she has been "noodling" all day so guess she has a bit of lazy bugitis too. In my post yesterday I had forgot to post my ATC swap and card class at Jan's pictures We have been on hiatus with our Stampin Up monthly club so this past Wed was our first class. Made 3 cards with the new stamp sets and the new colors. Beautiful new colors but the kiwi green is probably my favorite right now. Mystic Paper has a monthly ATC drop off swap and I joined this month. Below are 3 of the ATC plus mine. Mine is the mermaid of course since I love mermaids. Next month theme is "It's Good to Be Queen" that should be fun. So still working on my canvas swap. Hope to get it completed tonight and then finish up my cigar box this week. That will leave the Bingo card swap plus the ATC swap. Ok back to crea

What a week!!!

This has been a crazy week. I had Monday off and was supposed to work the rest of the week. Well the best laid plans changed. I worked Tuesday and Wednesday as planned. The boss left for a marathon Wed nite and I went out to go to work on Thursday and the jeep decided it needed a day of rest. Yeap no going to work Thursday. I was able to get the jeep in to be looked at on Friday and it seems my battery was not pulling enough power to maintain the jeep to run. Every time I would start it I had to keep my foot on the accelerator until the car had been running awhile.I now have a super duper new battery and one happy jeep. So anyway I had two more days off. I put them to good uses and cleaned cleaned cleaned. Most of my house looks wonderful Today I met friends at Mystic Paper and proceeded to buy all the new stuff. Let's see the new 7 Gypsies awesome, new Cosmo awesome, MM Halloween and Cosmo Halloween and Bo Bunny Christmas. Yeap I have them if anyone needs paper. Then we have the n

What a Weekend

Image
I was in Temecula Friday thru Monday for a Blog Her Party event held thru La Maison Rustique. Kim was a vendor at the blog party and Colleen and I traveled with her. We missed Maija as she was not able to come. We missed ya Maija!!! Saturday bright and early we helped Kim set up her tables.Kim shared her tent with Candice . It is not I repeat not cooler in Temecula but it is pretty with lots of vineyards. Kim and Cheryl were there of course and we had a blast hanging and catching up with them. To say we all roasted was not an exaggeration. There were many pretties to see and drool over. One of the fun things was the pink trailer and "Lucy" car. Loved it After we all packed Kim up we headed to South Coast Winery to celebrate Joy's birthday. Wow what a fabulous meal. Then back to the hotel to sleep Sunday brought another special day planned by Kim and Cheryl. They took us to the Flea Market in Orange County. Too fun too hot too expensive ha ha. Colleen took off and

Getting Ready

I am busy trying to get things organized at work and here at home for my upcoming trip this weekend. To say I am excited is putting it mildly. It will be so good to get away for a few days. And then add the events and shopping and the friends. It has been since Tim Holtz since we have met up with our partners in crime Kim C and Cheryl S. Missed you guys and can't wait to see ya. I am an avid blog reader and have many many blogs I follow from the famous to the not so famous. It is interesting to see what is going on lately in the blog and scrapbook world. So much copying and so much competition, back biting and back stabbing. It is actually very sad. I see businesses and friendships ending over the petty jealousy and that makes me angry and sad. Today it was interesting to see an online blog that is copying the ideas and dreams of another person. I guess some people consider it fair game. I think Rebecca Tresler put it best on her blog when she wrote about competition among women. M

Fantastic Mail Day

I came home from work to boxes sitting by my door. Love to get boxes. I am in a cigar box swap for Artistic Affaire Deux in Oct so I ordered some from Etsy. They are perfect to be altered. My sister bid on a box of patterns at an auction and lucked out and won the auction. I am the lucky recipient of old old patterns, button cards, and old needle cases. Thank you Jo I love them. She also included a Flea Market Finds book. It will be going to California with me this weekend, The patterns. A few of the many she sent Vintage button cards and needle cases Another view of the patterns

The Weekend is Gone

Image
What a very short weekend. It seems it was just Friday and here it is Sunday evening already. I had a great weekend spent with friends and family, so it really can't get much better than that. I did manage to complete my houses for a swap in Oct. One of three swaps I am in. One down and two to go. A little sneak peak of my houses Today we met up at Firebird for lunch. TJ drove in from Casa Grande to meet us. Absolutely wonderful lunch. The food was super! I managed to find a bench in the shade so I could grab a couple of pictures of my kids. I think they thought it was torture. Oh well at least I got a pic. Saturday am Colleen and I rode to Payson with Kim . She had a full class to teach at Paper and Metals Scrappers . Colleen and I were able to take the class. It has been a really long time since we had a class so it was fun to get back in the groove. After class we shopped a bit and then packed up to go find lunch. We hit the jackpot and on recommendations from the other class pa

Friday

Yeah it is Friday and the short weekend looms ahead. Adventures await me I am sure. Saturday early am I am once again heading to Payson with Kim and Colleen. Kim is teaching an awesome class here. Colleen and I may get to take it if there are any spots left. Otherwise we will be shopping the store while Kim teaches. I am sure we will find something we can not live without. I need some more nail heads and corners for my Purple Monster and of course I need to introduce Colleen to the wonderful Purple Monster. After Kim's class I imagine we will be shopping some of the fun antique stores. Keeping my fingers crossed for some more blueberry coffee cake:) So Colleen will pick up the new Starbuck's protein drinks for all of us and we will head out to Payson bright and early. Sunday is family lunch but where we are not sure yet, I bet there will be pics later in the weekend.

Slow motion

Image
Boy am I am slow motion today!!! Guess I was more tired than I thought from our shopping yesterday. (See the previous post). So anyway I thought since I was uploading my photos I would give you a brief glimpse of what I found at the antique stores. Buttons buttons buttons I love vintage, old buttons. Now I didn't get as many as Kim she hit the jack pot! Meet Mistress Mary. She is the sweetest little pot from Lamar Pottery. These are hard for me to find at a reasonable price but I scored big time with her I found 2 of these beautiful blue glass balls. I think they are mercury glass and I love them Mailbox front. I have big plans for this one Hankies with crocheted or tatting edgings. Just love them. Ok that is it my treasures from yesterday. See not too bad. so I guess I need to accomplish something today so off to finish the laundry. Work tomorrow

Recaps of the week

Image
As I wrote on Friday it has been a long hot week. Lots going on at the dialysis center, lots going on at the home front. I was really glad to see Saturday come. I was ready for a break! Colleen is home after a stressful two weeks in Washington State visiting relatives and spending time with her 98 year old Aunt. Lots of stories for her to tell. She came home Monday night to a trashed house. Hopefully she and Mike P will get her blog up and running soon and the pics and stories will thoroughly entertain you. Yesterday, Colleen and I did our usual Starbucks but now with a twist. Starbucks now has a protein drink so Colleen insisted I try it. Have to say calorie wise probably less than my venti vanilla latte and taste wise it was good. Health wise better than coffee. I did not have the two shots of espresso that Colleen added to hers or the iced coffee that Colleen had as a chaser. So it was off to Mystic Paper as Collen needed (like me) the new Graphics 45 paper and some embellishments
