Celebration

Today was the day Colleen picked for her and Beth to celebrate my birthday (which isn't until next Sunday). Colleen made reservations at Olive & Ivey in Scottsdale. It is a beautiful resturant and we got to meet Amy's husband who is just so nice. Meal was fantastic and the celebration was over the top. It is our tradition with the 3 of us that we make a hat for the birthday girl which she is required to wear. Colleen found a beautiful headband type thing with a beautiful flower on it. The challenge was to get it on and have my hair look decent. I finally just let my hair dry naturally so all the curls sprung up. Below is a pic of my headband Colleen taking pics of us

Gifts: the rooster plate from Beth & Pete to add to my collection, the red brayer that glue doesn't stick to, an awl (lethal weapon) and a Waterford perfume bottle to add to my collection from Colleen
And a red food scale that I had been searching for from Colleen plus an old window for me to alter. Too much. I so appreciate my celebration. Good food, good friends what more could I need. Great day
So it is back to reality of laundry and getting ready to start a new work week. Hope all had a great weekend

The Stockings Were Hung

I hosted a small group for a Christmas Stocking Swap. I kept the group small due to my time and work constraints and deadlines I was facing. My idea for the swap came from a wonderful online class I took with Nancy Maxwell James of Sugar Lump Studios . I really enjoyed her class and all her helpful tips and so the idea was born. I assigned secret partners, to each of the members as well as a Dec 10th deadline. Christine suggested we all wait and open our boxes on the same day. So today is the reveal. The stocking are gorgeous and it has been fun as the photos came in to see how each of us interpreted the theme. We designed and filled our stockings with goodies and then mailed to our partner. Today: Chaos, Cooking, Cleaning and Creating

What a day. I think I put the "Labor" into Labor Day. After yesterday, where I basically sat all day I needed to get going. And get going I did. From laundry to cleaning to grocery shopping to creating I have had a busy day. I have decided that what I eat sucks. I rarely cook a good meal and then at bedtime I am back to starving. So in my great wisdom I decided I needed to get with it and start fixing better meals for myself. Cooking for 1 is not the most inspiring thing. I am so used to cooking for larger groups and I tend to make too much. any how armed with a list for the grocery store and determination I headed out. I shopped and shopped, loaded all the groceries into the car and unloaded all the groceries from the car when I got home. From there it was a whirlwind of mixing and making my meals for the week.
