Happy New Year Well Almost

Gosh it is so hard to believe another year has flown by. They seem to go quicker as I age. This has been a good year for our family with Jenn's trip with her family to Disneyland, Mom, Dad, and Sister Jo visiting in October. A good year all in all! TJ and I are still at WSD working with the dialysis patients, Jenn and John are still at Nationwide working and all of us have been in good health. What more do we need?

Another layout I finished up today
Playing with some new art medium Liquitex. Love this stuff. It is a gel medium with varnish and gives a translucent effect to the paper. Below the paper which is tissue paper and a dinner napkin have one coat on.
Six coats later and I think I'm satisfied with the results. Love how thepaper napkin turned out. Going to make an envelope out of the tissue paper.

The Stockings Were Hung

I hosted a small group for a Christmas Stocking Swap. I kept the group small due to my time and work constraints and deadlines I was facing. My idea for the swap came from a wonderful online class I took with Nancy Maxwell James of Sugar Lump Studios . I really enjoyed her class and all her helpful tips and so the idea was born. I assigned secret partners, to each of the members as well as a Dec 10th deadline. Christine suggested we all wait and open our boxes on the same day. So today is the reveal. The stocking are gorgeous and it has been fun as the photos came in to see how each of us interpreted the theme. We designed and filled our stockings with goodies and then mailed to our partner. Today: Chaos, Cooking, Cleaning and Creating

What a day. I think I put the "Labor" into Labor Day. After yesterday, where I basically sat all day I needed to get going. And get going I did. From laundry to cleaning to grocery shopping to creating I have had a busy day. I have decided that what I eat sucks. I rarely cook a good meal and then at bedtime I am back to starving. So in my great wisdom I decided I needed to get with it and start fixing better meals for myself. Cooking for 1 is not the most inspiring thing. I am so used to cooking for larger groups and I tend to make too much. any how armed with a list for the grocery store and determination I headed out. I shopped and shopped, loaded all the groceries into the car and unloaded all the groceries from the car when I got home. From there it was a whirlwind of mixing and making my meals for the week.
