Happy Father's Day

Image
Happy Father's Day Dad! Can't be there in person today but soon like in a week I will be home. Hope you are celebrating and doing what you want today! Love ya lots! Another week has zoomed by. Not a crazy busy week, just a week that quickly flew by. Seems they are all that way lately. Class at Devine Memories on Thursday with Michelle . Colleen was back from Germany so we all had a great evening catching up and working on the album. Below are a couple of pics of the album. Front cover of mini albulm Inside peek I waited till the last minute, well not really last minute, to work in my next Altered Book. This has been a difficult book to work in due to the bulk of the book. Finally had to do most of the layouts outside the book and glue in. 2 layouts are done and the 3rd is in my head waiting to be put on paper. We will see how close to my idea in my brain the actual layout turns out This 1st layout I used fabric and images from a novel and just machine stitched to the fabric ...

Oh where have the last 2 weeks gone??

Image
Wow the past 2 weeks have just flown by. Between working some crazy hours at the unit, getting a BBQ pulled together for Warren (leaving after 8 years with us) and helping my sister get ready for my folks 60 th anniversary time is flying. But.. surprise surprise I managed to take a class in between all this. Warren has been with WSD for 8 years and has been a steadfast, loyal employee. He will be missed by our patients and staff. BBQ we had for him was perfect as we actually got to sit and chat for a long time. I wish him good luck at his new job and with his new endevor Liberal Christian Trio . Jennifer and John and kids are doing great just so busy working and lots of activities with the kids. Class with Michelle at Devine Memories this was such a fun album to make in a picture frame. Love it Michelle Sneek peek of just a little of what I'm doing for the anniversary celebration Card class at Jan's on the 6th. Fun cards and we missed Colleen as she is in Germany at her son...

Taking a break

Image
It is a hot hot Sunday afternoon here in good ole AZ. Sorry Dad, I'm sure my high 90's sound better than your 60's. I have been out cleaning the pool. all these winds have deposited many leaves and other junk in my pool. So presently I'm taking a break while I refill the pool. Must say it is cooler in here than it is out there. Rocket scientist aren't I??? Yesterday was a whirlwind shopping, junking, and antiquing day with Colleen. I think we were in Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert and Phoenix. Lots of stores lots of stuff. A news flash for all of you that know about the antique store on 7th ave that had the boom boom room. It is closed How sad. Well not for us but I'm sure someone will miss not having a place to shop for tiarras and huge sized platform shoes. Ok back to Saturday. I had some specific things in mind to shop for and 1/2 of them I found and the other 1/2 alas I did not. We were priveledged to some of the snottiest, rude staff at ETC and some...

Missing

Don't everyone faint, but yeap it is me the bad blogger actually writing today. No excuses just haven't been blogging. I seriously can't believe this is Memorial weekend already. Boy the year is just flying by. No special plans just relax and rejuvinate for the upcoming weeks. Kim tagged me to write 7 wierd facts about me hmmmm do I want to actually put it on paper so the whole world knows. If I think about it I guess those people that are close to me know most of my weirdness anyway ok so here goes 1. Dishwasher has to be loaded in a certain way (top rack first then bottom and silverware last) 2. Magazines, newspapers read from back to front 3. Laundry done in the same order whites, lights, darks, towels 4. I clean in absolutely the same order livingroom, kitchen, bathrooms 5. Alarm clock and watch and clocks in my house usually set 10-15 minutes ahead as I hate being late 6. Only use one type of dishsoap, laundry soap, bath soap no matter what is on sale 7. R...

Bad bad bad blogger

Image
I have been in a bloggers funk it seems. Just didn't have a whole lot to say. I guess I just needed time for self reflection on my life and the directions I want to go. Yeap my birthday came on Sunday the 6th and I had what I would call a perfect day. Lots of phone calls from family and friends, and a day of just sitting in my PJ's and doing what I wanted. No great expectations just thinking and searching. It is amazing that I am now 58. Turning 50 certainly didn't bother me as much as this birthday has. My goal has always been to age gracefuly and I am falling short of that. I do mind the grey hair, the wrinkles the sagging body the aches and pains of the joints. I do mind the lack of energy, of being tired all the time. When I think of retirement coming up in the next few years (ya right) I want to be full of energy, embrace my life, travel, do unexpected things. Guess we will see where that goes. So again it was a busy week at work with the usual trials, stressors, and o...

Celebration

Image
Today was the day Colleen picked for her and Beth to celebrate my birthday (which isn't until next Sunday). Colleen made reservations at Olive & Ivey in Scottsdale. It is a beautiful resturant and we got to meet Amy's husband who is just so nice. Meal was fantastic and the celebration was over the top. It is our tradition with the 3 of us that we make a hat for the birthday girl which she is required to wear. Colleen found a beautiful headband type thing with a beautiful flower on it. The challenge was to get it on and have my hair look decent. I finally just let my hair dry naturally so all the curls sprung up. Below is a pic of my headband Colleen taking pics of us Beth My cake which was so good!!!! Note the Happy Birthday written in frosting. Too cute!! I loved these hanging lights Gifts: the rooster plate from Beth & Pete to add to my collection, the red brayer that glue doesn't stick to, an awl (lethal weapon) and a Waterford perfume bottle to ...

Good & Sad

Image
Yesterday Jan, Colleen and I went over to Hospice to see a dear courageous friend. Michelle was admitted to inpatient hospice on Sunday. I have to say the facility was beautiful and the staff some of the most loving caring nurses I have seen in a long while. With Don her husband at her side she was pleased to see us. As usual Michelle had that twinkle in her eye and her wicked sense of humor was still present. We all laughed about her ice spilling escapade at 2 in the morning and Michelle not calling in her drop dead gorgeous male nurse to clean her up and change the linens. It was good to see Michelle and express are love for her. Tears were never far from our eyes and there were a couple of moments that all of us were pretty teary. We love you Michelle, your inspiration, your devotion to your autistic class, your love of nature, and that wicked wicked sense of humor that always keeps us laughing. You are a positive inspiration to all who meet you. We will miss you terribly ...

Well it is a partly sunny, slightly breezy day in Arizona. Where is my warm (yes I like it hot) weather! It has been a great weekend so far. No Friday off for me so it seems like the weekend has flown by. For starters I have show and tell. No it is not the coveted Hummer that I want and no it is not the new Jeep Commander I want!!!! Drum roll please for all you non-believers take a look......... Yeap tags on my OLD jeeep I'm legal till 2008 whoopee So yesterday was the big scrapbook convention in Mesa. And Colleen and I went only because our favorite store Devine Memories had a booth and we wanted to support them and hang out with the girls! Getting there was fun. Parking there was not FUN. Just ask Colleen why she has grass stain across her trunk of her Mercedes. Ya all know Colleen's famous line it is a Mercedes it withstands anything and you will never be killed in a Mercedes. Well ask the tree who won!!!! So any way we made the tour of the booths and neither of us were too...

Productive weekend

I took Friday off to #1 recuperate from last weekend, #2 mental health day and #3 go renew my tags. Yes everyone I am a slacker but I had my emmissions testing done, registered or renewed on line and lo and behold my tags were in my mailbox on Saturday. Yeap they are now on my car. I'm legal oh yeah. In fact they are good till 2008. So that started out my morning. I pretty much worked in my scraproom all day. Finished up the 2nd set of recipe cards for a swap I'm in and started invitations/ announcements for a potluck at work. So here is my weekend in pictures The illegal jeep. Guess I will need to get pictures of the new tags Saturday Colleen and I headed to Mesa to the Peddlars Wife for a bit of antiquing. Kim and Aliya walked in while were there so we had lunch with them and then decided to head to Phoenix to Rust and Roses our new favorite place. This a little form I picked up at Peddlars Wife/Mystic Paper. Of course Colleen got the big one and one like mine i...
