Getting Ready

I am busy trying to get things organized at work and here at home for my upcoming trip this weekend. To say I am excited is putting it mildly. It will be so good to get away for a few days. And then add the events and shopping and the friends. It has been since Tim Holtz since we have met up with our partners in crime Kim C and Cheryl S. Missed you guys and can't wait to see ya.

I am an avid blog reader and have many many blogs I follow from the famous to the not so famous. It is interesting to see what is going on lately in the blog and scrapbook world. So much copying and so much competition, back biting and back stabbing. It is actually very sad. I see businesses and friendships ending over the petty jealousy and that makes me angry and sad. Today it was interesting to see an online blog that is copying the ideas and dreams of another person. I guess some people consider it fair game. I think Rebecca Tresler put it best on her blog when she wrote about competition among women. Maybe we all need to read it again and take heart. As many people have said "What goes around comes around" and those that steal others ideas or copy others projects and then teach them as their own will probably have the same thing happen to them one of these days.
Ok enough philosophy for the nite off to create.

Is it really worth it? Do we crave praise and recognition so badly that we have lost our sense of what's right? Or is it financial gain? Or maybe just a bit of jealously? Just a thought.

I hosted a small group for a Christmas Stocking Swap. I kept the group small due to my time and work constraints and deadlines I was facing. My idea for the swap came from a wonderful online class I took with Nancy Maxwell James of Sugar Lump Studios . I really enjoyed her class and all her helpful tips and so the idea was born. I assigned secret partners, to each of the members as well as a Dec 10th deadline. Christine suggested we all wait and open our boxes on the same day. So today is the reveal. The stocking are gorgeous and it has been fun as the photos came in to see how each of us interpreted the theme. We designed and filled our stockings with goodies and then mailed to our partner. Today: Chaos, Cooking, Cleaning and Creating

What a day. I think I put the "Labor" into Labor Day. After yesterday, where I basically sat all day I needed to get going. And get going I did. From laundry to cleaning to grocery shopping to creating I have had a busy day. I have decided that what I eat sucks. I rarely cook a good meal and then at bedtime I am back to starving. So in my great wisdom I decided I needed to get with it and start fixing better meals for myself. Cooking for 1 is not the most inspiring thing. I am so used to cooking for larger groups and I tend to make too much. any how armed with a list for the grocery store and determination I headed out. I shopped and shopped, loaded all the groceries into the car and unloaded all the groceries from the car when I got home. From there it was a whirlwind of mixing and making my meals for the week.
